Cars for St. Francis
The St. Francis Healthcare Foundation is accepting car donations through a partnership with Kokua in Kind, a vehicle donation exchange doing business with many charitable organizations in Hawaii.
Most vehicles, running or not, will be accepted, but they must have some value, such as no burnt cars. Also, they must be free of any outstanding parking tickets. A certificate of title, most recent registration and safety check are requested. Vehicle manuals and service records are also helpful.
Donations of cars are requested; however, trucks, motorcycles, mopeds, motorboats, sailboats, airplanes, and jet skis will also be accepted.
The IRS allows the car owner to claim a tax deduction of the value of the vehicle up to $500 or the full sale price if it is sold for more than $500. A vehicle donation form is available on the Kokua in Kind website, www.kokuainkind.com. Donations will support programs and services offered by the Sisters of St. Francis.
Vehicles may be dropped off at Kokua in Kind, 530 Paiea Street in the airport area or arrangements for a car pick-up may also be made. Donations of cars from the neighbor islands are accepted; cars will be shipped to Oahu at no cost to the donor.
